Safer Neighbourhood Team Community Update SNT Area: Ashbourne This update outlines the progress made against the community priorities set for your area by Local Policing Inspector John TROUP, in collaboration with Safer Neighbourhood Supervisors Sgt Chris GRANT and PCSO Supervisor Karl MILLWARD. Community priorities are reviewed and set on a quarterly basis and guide the focus of the Safer Neighbourhood Team’s activity. New priorities are determined through analysis of local crime trends and by incorporating community feedback gathered via engagement events, surveys, and direct contact. Previous Community Priorities Actions Taken Speeding In relation to speeding concerns, numerous checks have been carried out by Safer Neighbourhood Team officers in and around identified hotspot areas. These activities were supported by Roads Policing, Community Speed Watch, and CREST. A Partnership Problem Solving Plan has been implemented in collaboration with key members of the Community Safety Partnership. This plan adopts a holistic, joint‑working approach, with all partners contributing toward a shared objective and taking responsibility for their respective areas of focus to address speeding concerns across Ashbourne. Drugs – Market Place From a policing perspective, enforcement activity has been led through a combination of high‑visibility and plain‑clothes patrols, alongside proportionate stop searches of individuals and vehicles. These operations resulted in positive outcomes, including the recovery of Class B drugs. To further strengthen this work, the team organised and delivered two consecutive joint operations with other Safer Neighbourhood Teams focusing on drug‑related criminality. Offenders were dealt with using a combination of out‑of‑court disposals and formal charges, depending on circumstances. One notable incident involved two males located in the Ashbourne area who were dealt with for drug‑related offences and are now subject to community service orders. Additional charges were sought for obstructing police and attempting to dispose of evidence. These actions reflect the team’s continued commitment to tackling drug‑related crime and maintaining community safety through proactive policing.
